A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PA

As a PA, you are directly involved in ensuring that we always deliver patient-focused care. As a true people person, you thrive in this environment as you assess patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Our Physician assistants will also order diagnostic tests, which may sometimes be performed at the clinic. They also prescribe treatment, refer patients for follow up care, and educate patients on self-care at home.

Given the fast-paced setting in Urgent Care, it is helpful to be well organized and work well under pressure. Urgent care Physician Assistants also need to have excellent interpersonal skills as you will be caring for people of all ages. You will see a variety of conditions ranging from minor to those that require additional and advanced care. Good judgment is also an important skill when it comes to working in urgent care as a physician assistant.

Your attention to detail ensures that everything is properly documented in our computer system. This fast-paced environment will keep you on your toes, but your positive attitude will ensure your success.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of working experience as a PA in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting
  • Active PA Medical License
  • Active DEA Registration
  • DOT Certification
  • Valid ACLS & PALS certifications
  • Child Abuse clearances and criminal background checks required

WORK SCHEDULE

The work schedule for this position offers 12-hour shifts Monday-Friday and 9-hour shifts on weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and/or crouch. The employee must frequently lift supplies and/or equipment and may be responsible for lifting, positioning, and/or transferring patients.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee may be exposed to infectious or contagious diseases and a variety of electromechanical hazards. The employee may also handle emergency and/or crisis situations.
